Turing Council
DTU Compute Master’s Council
We are the Turing Council. We represent all Master’s students studying under DTU Compute:
- Computer Science & Engineering
- Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence
- Mathematical Modelling & Computation
- Autonomous Systems
Together we represent ~1,500 master’s students across these programmes — a large, curious, and highly skilled community ready to shape student life, education, and connections between industry and research.
What we do
The Turing Council exists to make your master’s at DTU Compute better — academically, professionally, and socially. We:
- Advocate for master’s students at department and faculty meetings.
- Build professional bridges between students, industry and research groups (thesis matches, internships, company projects).
- Run social and learning events that fit the master’s crowd: workshops, talks, hackathons, and relaxed hangouts.
- Launch projects that improve student life — from open-source study tools to social systems and event platforms.
- Share important practical info about living in Denmark, traffic safety, and voting rights.
Examples of things we organise or want to scale up
Social life
- Board game nights — low-key, inclusive, and great for meeting classmates.
- Student hangouts — pub-style evenings for unwinding after exams.
- Hackathons & coding nights — DTU Hacks vs DTU HackerLab collaboration, smaller 12–24h sprints, and cross-programming jams.
- Social walk — 21 September in the Dyrehave: a relaxed outdoor walk to get to know each other, chat about studies and projects, and enjoy some fresh air together.
Career & academic opportunities
- Career Night: companies that need the specific skills we teach (security, ML, numerical methods, HCI, distributed systems, etc.) present roles and hiring paths for master’s students.
- Research & Thesis Night (DTU Compute groups): meet research groups looking for master’s thesis students and project collaborations.
Policy & representation
Beyond events and services, the Turing Council works to influence decision‑making at both DTU and national levels. We make sure master’s students have a voice during the DTU Strategy process, feeding back on teaching priorities, research directions, facilities, and resources that affect your study environment. We also participate in the DSK / The Political Conference, where we coordinate with other student councils, bring student perspectives to ministry‑level discussions, and lobby for issues like funding, teaching quality, and international student rights. Being part of the council gives you a direct channel to shape policies that will affect your education and career.
Why join & what we offer
- Influence course content, learning environment, and research opportunities that affect your master’s education.
- Build a network across DTU Compute, industry partners, and other universities.
- Run/organise events — get leadership credits and practical skills for your CV.
- Network with companies and researchers in curated career and thesis events.
- Learn to lead: chair meetings, run committees, handle budgets and communications.
- Gain leadership, event planning, and technical experience that stands out on your CV.
- Have fun! Socials, hack nights, and collaboration projects make DTU life more memorable.
Volunteering with the council is flexible — from an hour helping at a single event to holding an officer role. It’s excellent CV material.
Meetings — come by and make a difference
- Constitutional Meeting: 29th of September — this is the (re)founding meeting where we re-establish the council’s structure and elect officers. Everyone is welcome.
- Regular council meetings: after the constitutional meeting we aim to meet once a month — free dinner, updates about campus, and open discussion. All our meetings are open and every student has speaking rights.
If you’d like to attend the constitutional meeting (29th Sept) or future meetings, RSVP on our Facebook page or DM us.
How to get involved
- Like & follow our Facebook page (Turing Council) for event announcements and quick updates.
- DM us on Facebook to say you want to help, suggest an event, or just pop by a meeting.
- Join the Social walk — 21 September in the Dyrehave: a relaxed outdoor walk to get to know each other, chat about studies and projects, and enjoy some fresh air together.
- Show up at the constitutional meeting (29 Sept) — it’s the best way to help shape the council from the ground up.
All meetings are open and you always have the right to speak and propose changes.
We’re excited to restart the Turing Council and build something that truly benefits master’s students at DTU Compute. Whether you want to organise a hackathon, host a research night, or help with a one-off social — we need you.
See you soon,
— The (re)founders of the Turing Council
